Vocabulary for Ancient Greece


Agora- A place where people meet for assemblies  
Arête- excellence
Polis- a city state in ancient Greece
The year 508 BC-  the year of the first revolution in history
Socrates- He was an ancient Greek philosopher known for start of the western philosophy.
The death of Socrates- he questioned the tyrant and was forced to drink poison
The Socratic method- a way of teaching that requires a lot of questions and answers

“Idiot”- a person in ancient Greece who doesn’t vote
